The Prime Minister’s Literary Awards

This unique, hand finished Solid Sterling Silver pen was designed especially for the inaugural Prime Minister’s Literary Awards.

The Awards are amongst the most the most generous in the literary world, with each of the two winners receiving a $100,000 prize.

The finial and clip of each pen was embellished with an engraving reflecting the calligraphic flourishes in the Awards identity. With the name of the Award and the year of presentation around the cap, the result is an elegant pen with discrete touches to remind the recipient of the occasion.

At an exciting award ceremony at Parliament House Canberra, the pens were presented by the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, to 15 short listed authors including Germaine Greer and Clive James. The two winning authors each received a pen further enhanced with gold detail.

We here at Curtis Australia hope that the pens will spur the recipients to even greater writings in the future - for as we know, even in the computer age, most ideas and indeed great literature, still start with the timeless pen.
